Fallen Warrior: A1C Elizabeth N. Jacobson

Airman 1st Class Elizabeth N. Jacobson, a proud security forces member from Goodfellow Air Force Base, Texas, was deployed to Camp Bucca, Iraq, in 2005. On September 28th, 2005, she was hit and killed by an IED after only being in Iraq for 3 months.

She was the first female Airman and first security forces Airman killed in the line of duty while supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom. In honor of her legacy, Goodfellow AFB renamed the main gate "Jacobson Gate" and Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, Texas, established the Jacobson Training Complex. The Air Force also honored Jacobson by establishing the Elizabeth N. Jacobson Award for Expeditionary Excellence for outstanding performance during deployment operations.
