Col. Michele Edmondson, 81st Training Wing commander, hosted a town hall forum for more than 90 Keesler members and their families May 3, at the Bay Breeze Event Center, Keesler Air Force Base, Miss.

Edmondson held the forum to discuss current events and issues throughout the wing, to include severe weather, base housing, childcare, the new combat stress support group and Keesler’s dozens of recent awards and recognitions.

“I think it’s really important to establish an environment where our families can communicate with base leadership,” Edmondson said. “There’s nothing like getting together and having a conversation to understand what peoples’ concerns are; that way we can look for a way to come together as a community and support each other.”

Representatives from the 81st Medical Group, 81st Mission Support Group, emergency management and base housing offices also attended to help answer questions on childcare, medical care, family activities, base and traffic security and disaster preparedness.

“We had great participation, our families genuinely care about what’s going on,” Edmondson said. “What I took away from this is that we came together and had a conversation about where we can make things better, and that’s what it’s all about – how we make your time at Keesler better.”
