Course Description:

The Military Training Leader (MTL) course is a requirement for the MTL Special Duty Identifier (SDI). The course teaches the role of the MTL in conducting military training and counseling of non-prior service (NPS) Airmen attending technical training schools. MTLs learn to motivate NPS Airmen to develop positive military attitudes, effective human relations, and social skills for improving interpersonal and military relations. MTLs learn to assist NPS Airmen in their personal adjustment to military life by learning dress and personal appearance, individual differences, suicide awareness, human relations, counseling techniques, staff referral agencies, the communicative process, and voice characteristics. MTLs learn the MTL mission and structure, Airman Management, Drill, Airman Formations, Dormitory Standards, Deliberate Airmen Development Program, Counseling, Discipline and Guidance, Physical Training, Human Behavior, First Aid, and Airman Status Management. This course trains the MTL to be a certified Resiliency Training Assistant (RTA). Admin Instructions: Students report to the Military Training Leader School (81 TRSS/TSF), Lott Hall, Building 2603, upstairs in room 47 @ 0630 on class start date. Reporting uniform is the long sleeve service uniform with tie/tab, trousers, low quarters and all accouterments. Parking and entrance is on the east side of the building. 

 

Application Process: Member must be vectored through the DSD program and have completed the application. Special Notes:  Mississippi is in a hot climate. In order to minimize the risk of heat stress disorders and acclimate while performing physical training, it is highly recommended selectees perform regular aerobic physical training for three weeks prior to attending training. Selectees should try to be physically prepared for the environmental conditions to which they will be subjected.

 

Uniform Requirements & Waiver Authority: Reporting uniform is long sleeve service uniform with all accouterments, tie/tab, trousers, and low quarters. ABUs. PTU (any combination IAW AFI 36-2903). Just as with PME, physical training (PT) is an integral part of the Military Training Leader (MTL) course. Students who are unable to fully participate in the PT requirements of the course should be scheduled for the course at a later date. Students arriving for the MTL course with waivers/profiles that prevent them from participating in PT may be returned to their unit as ineligible for course entry. Any waivers to this requirement must be approved by the 8B100 career field manager.

Course Description:

This advanced course is designed to train Military Training Leader (MTL) Superintendents, Flight Chiefs, and Assistant Flight Chiefs.  Subject matter taught will include Mission Structure, Mentoring Program, Team Building, Resource Management, Training Management, Force Support Squadron (FSS) functions, Exodus Planning/Reporting, and Health, Morale and Welfare inspections.
