Office of the Staff Judge Advocate

The Keesler Air Force Base Office of the Staff Judge Advocate provides high-quality legal advice and expertise in the areas of civil law, contract law, labor law, environmental law, claims and military justice for courts-martial and non-judicial punishment actions. The Office also provides legal assistance to individual military members, retirees and family members on personal, non-criminal legal matters.

Legal Assistance Services

The Office of the Staff Judge Advocate provides legal services and advice absolutely free to all active duty personnel and their dependents along with reservists and guardsmen on federal active duty and their dependents. In addition, retired personnel, their dependents, and dependent survivors may also receive legal assistance to the extent personnel and facilities are available.

Attorneys and paralegals can assist eligible personnel with wills, powers of attorney, notary service, or advice on personal civil legal matters such as adoption, landlord-tenant issues, tax assistance, and consumer law questions. Legal assistance officers are licensed attorneys who are assigned by the Air Force to advise and counsel members on personal legal problems.

Please visit the Air Force Legal Assistance web site for helpful information on many legal assistance topics, will and power of attorney worksheets, and an online survey. After you visit the website, feel free to set an appointment or visit the Office during walk-in hours.

Will Assistance

A will is a written legal declaration of how personal property should be distributed after death. The Office can assist eligible personnel in preparing a will. Before making coming to the legal office to see an attorney, members should visit the Air Force Legal Assistance web site to complete a will questionnaire.

In order to prepare a will, fill out the online questionnaire and record your ticket number. Call or visit the legal office and request a will appointment, providing your ticket number. Come in at the appointed time, for your will to be prepared. Will executions should normally follow, but in the case of more complex documents you may need to return at a later time to execute the document.

Will appointments are scheduled from 9 - 10 a.m. Tuesdays and 1 - 2p.m. Thursdays.
