Gate operations at Keesler AFB will be adjusted during Cruisin’ the Coast, the biggest annual event in the state of Mississippi. Car enthusiasts from 41 states plus Canada and Sweden will drive to the Mississippi Gulf Coast for the event, which begins Sept. 30 and runs through Oct. 7. Almost 8,000 vehicles were registered in 2016. This event is expected to bring traffic to a standstill along a 30-mile stretch of Highway 90 from Bay St. Louis to Ocean Springs. Drivers can expect significant congestion along Highway 90, I-110, Irish Hill and Pass Road.

Keesler gate operations will be adjusted for the White Avenue and Meadows Drive gates starting Oct. 5.

  • The White Avenue gate will be closed to vehicle and pedestrian traffic from 10 p.m. Oct. 5 to 4 a.m. Oct. 8.
  • The Meadows Drive gate will maintain 24/7 operations throughout the weekend until 4 a.m. Oct. 8. Normal operations will resume 5:30 a.m., Oct. 9. (Note: Oct. 8 is a federal holiday.)
  • Pass Road gate will remain open and unaffected 24/7, however, drivers can expect a high volume of traffic on Pass Road.
  • Pedestrians may use the Pass Road and Meadows Drive gates.
