Dragon Award winner of the quarter

Staff Sgt. Vallerie Barnes, 334th Training Squadron, participates in a flag folding ceremony during a retreat ceremony Sept. 11, 2013, Keesler Air Force Base, Miss. The ceremony honored those who lost their lives during the 9/11 attacks. Barnes won the Dragon Award for outstanding military training leader for the 2014 first quarter. One MTL is nominated from each of the four squadrons that train non-prior service students. Nominees take a knowledge test of the Air Force Instruction that governs the MTL job and perform control of flight marching and open ranks. Members of the 81st Aerospace Medicine Squadron bioenvironmental team, use a biological agent identification kit to help identify hazardous solids as they are evaluated by Tech. Sgt. Chris Bowens, 81st AMDS Wing Inspection Team member, during a Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and high-yield Explosive exercise scenario Feb. 20, 2014, at Wolfe Hall, Keesler Air Force Base, Miss. The exercise scenario began with a group of Airmen moving old boxes from a storage room where a box containing a bag of powder dropped, causing it to get onto several of the Airmen. Immediately, the Airmen simulated eye irritations, runny noses, difficulty breathing and burning sensations on their hands and faces from exposure to the agent.
