Medic saves life while on temporary duty in Kansas
Sgt. David Boggs, 81st Medical Operations Squadron, is credited with saving the life of a diner Jan. 8 while on temporary duty for combat skills training at Fort Riley, Kans. The man he provided life-saving assistance to happened to be an Air Force physician and a team member also TDY there. Lt. Col. (Dr.) Bruce Woodford said, “While eating the evening meal with his Air Force team another team member choked during the meal and was unable to breath. Master Sgt. Boggs astutely recognized the nature of the emergency and perfectly performed the ‘Heimlich’ maneuver. Because of his actions the member was able to clear his airway which saved his life. I personally witnessed and experienced his intervention since the other team member was me. Master Sgt. Boggs displays great credit to himself and the Air Force for his lifesaving actions.” (U.S. Air Force photo by Steve Pivnick)
