Secure access

Mike Bennett of Biloxi’s Pratt Landry Associates installs an access-control card reader outside an office in the Keesler Medical Center basement. According to James Martin, Air Force Civil Engineering Sup-port Agency Katrina recovery project manager, the new security system is computer-controlled, programmable and expandable. It monitors and permits access to the medical facility. Those requiring access are provided with a coded card the card reader reads at the access point they’re trying to enter. Once cleared to enter a particular door, the computer control system electronically unlocks the door to permit access. The system, which is being installed throughout the medical facility, is scheduled to be operational later this spring. (U.S. Air Force photo by Steve Pivnick)
