Refuge for travelers
Diane Allison, left, one of 40 volunteers at the USO lounge in the new addition to the Biloxi-Gulfport International Airport, serves coffee to Airman Basic Tyler Parks Jan. 18. Mrs. Allison’s husband, Gordon, is a Lockheed-Martin employee who works on C-130s at Keesler. Airman Parks, 338th Training Squadron student, was traveling to North Carolina for the birth of his first child. The lounge opened Dec. 19, just in time for the holiday troop exodus. It’s open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily and offers service members free snacks and beverages, wireless Internet service, four laptop computers, phones, a fax machine and a place to relax while awaiting flights.
