Left to right: Airman Basic Blake Ducharme and Airmen 1st Class Adam Minter and Nathan Fisher take part in a student cleanup effort immediately after Hurricane Gustav passed Keesler Air Force Base. More than 500 non-prior service students donned gloves and rakes, filling trash bags with various debris items and helping with the cleanup process. Hurricane Gustav
Col. Greg Touhill, 81st Training Wing commander, is interviewed by reporter Toni Miles from WLOX TV-13 September 2 concerning how Keesler Air Force Base fared during Hurricane Gustav. The base sustained only minor damage to several structures and a handful of downed trees in the wake of the storm. Shortly after the interview, Colonel Touhill was promoted to brigadier general in a small ceremony in the command post. His larger, formal pin on ceremony took place September 5.
