The Safety Zone will be in effect from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on each of those days. During this time, transiting will be allowed from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., but anchoring will be prohibited. From 2-4 p.m., transiting and anchoring are both prohibited. The Coast Guard and other marine agencies will be posted around the area to escort any watercraft outside of the restricted area during this time.

Second Air Force, headquartered in Biloxi, is responsible for conducting basic military and non-flying technical training for the Air Force, joint and coalition enlisted members and support officers. The command provides training in more than 390 Air Force specialties through 1,900 courses graduating 150,000 students annually. Second Air Force includes four training wings, a training group and more than 103 field training units around the world.

The celebration will include music, games and contests for Keesler personnel and their family members.

Volunteers will set up on the beach from 8:15 until 10 a.m.

The Keesler Retiree Affairs Office covers the local areas between Baton Rouge La. and Mobile, Ala. Ivan McAlister, a retired master sergeant who volunteers in the office, said there are more than 32,000 Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine and Coast Guard retirees.

This event will feature more than 30 displays with agency representatives from various organizations, including Keesler Medical Center, TRICARE, base legal office, Armed Forces Retirement Home, Veterans Administration Medical Center, Fisher House, Army and Air Force Exchange Service, and Keesler Federal Credit Union.

After being convicted of 31 specifications in an almost seven-day court-martial, Bass was sentenced to six months confinement, reduction to the rank of staff sergeant and forfeiture of $1,000 a month for three months.

For the charges and specifications relating to his time as a military training instructor at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, Texas in 2009, he was found guilty of 11 of 11 specifications of dereliction and failure to obey a lawful order, 13 of 16 specifications of cruelty and maltreatment, two of two specifications of wrongful sexual contact, and four of four specifications of assault.

Each year the Mississippi Recycling Coalition honors outstanding environmental efforts of organizations, businesses, schools and local governments throughout the state. Keesler earned the award in the state or federal government category.

Nominees were judged based on efforts to promote recycling as a way to create a better community, conduct continuous recycling or environmental programs rather than a one-time project, practice and improve awareness of environmental stewardship and improve community waste handling and environmental practices.

This event gives Keesler's dependent children an opportunity to experience what a deployment is like for their parents.

Children will receive a pre-deployment mission briefing from Gen. Brad Spacy, 81st Training Wing commander, go through a deployment line to collect their gear, put on "war paint," and "deploy" to an undisclosed location.

Shows are scheduled for Oct. 8 at 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. and Oct. 9 at 6 p.m. at the Welch Theater. Admission is free and seats are available on a first come, first served basis.

The show will feature Elmo's new friend, Katie, a military child whose family is about to move through a permanent change of station.

Mission essential personnel are directed to report to base at 9 a.m. while non-mission essential personnel report by noon. Leadership continues to stress the importance of safety, and remind personnel to remain in close contact with their chain of command if they have travel concerns. Personnel can travel to and from base during county curfews to report to work as required, and should carry their ID cards with them.
