Chief Master Sergeant Kenneth R. Carter is the Command Chief Master Sergeant of the 81st Training Wing, Keesler Air Force Base, Miss. The Wing is responsible for providing technical training for officers, enlisted, and civilians of the United States Air Force, Air National Guard, and Air Force Reserves as well as other Department of Defense agencies and international students in a variety of specialties. He advises commanders and staff on mission effectiveness, professional development, military readiness, training, utilization, health, morale, and welfare of the Wing’s 12,000 military and civilian Airmen and serves as the functional manager for Group Superintendents and First Sergeants. Additionally, Chief Carter works closely with the local community and civic leaders to enhance support for enlisted programs and the installation.  

Chief Carter grew up in San Antonio Texas and entered the Air Force in May 1990.  He completed technical training as an Aircrew Life Support Specialist and spent 13 years serving as a skilled technician, master instructor, Group and Wing Life Support trainer, and on staff at Headquarters Air Education and Training Command.  In 2003 he transitioned into the Professional Military Education career field as instructor and Commandant, Airman Leadership School.  In 2005, he graduated the First Sergeant Academy and has served as a First Sergeant at squadron, group and command levels for more than 11 years.  Prior to assuming his current position at Keesler AFB, Chief Carter served as the Command Chief for the 19th Airlift Wing, Little Rock AFB, Ark.
