The Mathies NCO Academy has taken their training beyond the classroom by hosting an open house for Keesler’s senior leadership on May 19.

The event educated leadership on the training newly promoted technical sergeants receive throughout the 25-day course.

MNCOA staff presented their training modules on culture, leadership, problem solving and the mission that leads their students to become effective leaders and communicators.

“It’s no small thing for units to give us their technical sergeants for six weeks” said Tech. Sgt. Jonathan Wimmer, MNCOA instructor. “We want to capture what they learn here to bridge the gap, so everyone understands the value of our training.”

Having both students and instructors from varied backgrounds fosters a dynamic learning environment.

“We have all different career fields working here, from security forces, to civil engineering, to maintenance,” said Senior Master Sgt. Sarah Beyers, MNCOA vice commandant. “Students can benefit from the diverse learning environment and take that back to their units for continued education.”

The MNCOA develops the technical sergeants needed to lead present and future Airmen in a diverse and inclusive environment.
