Legal Office

The Keesler Air Force Base Office of the Staff Judge Advocate provides high-quality legal advice and expertise in the areas of civil law, contract law, labor law, environmental law, claims and military justice for courts-martial and non-judicial punishment actions. The Office also provides legal assistance to individual military members, retirees and family members on personal, non-criminal legal matters.

The Military Commander and the Law (2014) is a publication produced by The JAG School and can serve as a helpful reference guide for commanders in the field, providing general guidance to help clarify issues and identify potential problem areas.

Legal Assistance

Airmen, retirees and their dependents are eligible to receive legal advice about a wide range of issues including divorce, child custody, landlord-tenant disputes, SCRA and consumer affairs. Wills: Our JAGs can provide simple wills, living wills and medical powers of attorney to those eligible for legal assistance. Go to https://aflegalassistance.law.af.mil to fill out your estate information and call our office to schedule an appointment. Will appointments are scheduled from 9-10 a.m. on Tuesdays and 1-2 p.m. on Thursdays. Call (228) 376-8601 to set up an appointment.


Household Goods Claim: The Air Force Claims Service Center in Kettering, Ohio now processes household goods shipments, personal property and vehicle damage claims for Airmen and civilian employees worldwide. To file a claim online, please visit the Air Force Claims Center.

Tort Claims: Contact our legal office at (228) 376-8601 for those claims arising when a military member or Defense Department civilian could be fault.

Special Victims Counsel

 The SVC program provides a seasoned trial attorney (JAG) to confidentially advise sexual assault victims and help navigate the criminal justice system. SVCs are available to those who have made both restricted and unrestricted reports. The SVC office is located on the second floor of the Sablich Center and can be reached at (228) 376-8632.

Victim & Witness Assistance

The Victim and Witness Assistance Program (VWAP) applies in all cases in which military criminal conduct adversely affects victims or witnesses of crimes under military law (the Uniform Code of Military Justice). A legal professional can provide information about resources a victim or witness can utilize with regard to their role as a victim or witness. To schedule an appointment with the VWAP coordinator, call (228) 376-8601.

Area Defense Counsel

Area Defense Counsel: The ADC's prime responsibility is to vigorously and ethically represent clients during adverse military actions such as:

- Courts-martial and Article 32 hearings

- Article 15 actions

- Administrative discharge and Demotion actions; LORs and LOCs

- Any other adverse actions in which counsel for an individual is required or authorized.

The ADC office is located at the Sablich Center; members can receive confidential legal advice outside the chain of command.

Tax Center

Each tax-season, you can visit our Tax Center and save money. A qualified legal professional will assist with filing your taxes and help you get a maximum refund. The Tax Center is currently closed but will reopen in early 2016.  While our Tax Center strives to serve all Airmen, retirees and DOD civilians, priority is given to lower ranking Airmen and those individuals who make less than $53,000 in net income.

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services

Each month, a representative from the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) is available in the legal office to provide assistance with immigration and naturalization-related matters. Call today for an appointment.

 Military members and their spouses can fill out an application to naturalize.
