KEESLER AIR FORCE BASE, Miss. -- Members of the Combat Veteran Motorcycle Association presented the Keesler Air Force Base Honor Guard with a shadow box in the Locker House Jan. 26, 2017, on Keesler AFB, Miss.
The 14 members of the CVMA presented the Honor Guard Airmen a shadow box for their roll in five Congressional Medal of Honor ceremonies and numerous funerals at the Biloxi National Cemetery during the last six years.
“We wanted to give back and honor the Keesler Honor Guard and thank them for all they have done,” said retired Master Sgt. Sebastian Pellerito, CVMA public relations officer. “We see the Keesler Honor Guard all the time during funerals and from their dress and appearance to the way they train and perform, you can see their perfection during funeral ceremonies.”
Master Sgt. Jim Davidson, Keesler AFB Honor Guard superintendent, felt elated to see the hard work the honor guard puts in recognized by the veterans group.
“Receiving this shadow box made me realize how much the community appreciates all the work we do here,” Davidson said. “It’s great to see how much they appreciate the time we put into serving those who have gone before us.”
Davidson said he is proud of everything the Keesler Honor Guard Airmen do day in and day out to recognize veterans.
“Our mission is to honor with dignity and everything we do is because we owe it to those before us,” Davidson said. “We want the community to know we are here to provide military funeral honors and we are available to them when they need us.”
