KEESLER AIR FORCE BASE, Miss. -- The summer peak season for household goods shipments has arrived. The Joint Personal Property Shipping Office-South Central along with the 81st Logistics Readiness Squadron Personal Property Processing Office wants to provide helpful tips to avoid issues with the busy summer season. Between May and August there is an influx of military and commercial moves, along with shortages in transportation service providers’ equipment and manning that results in a decrease in the capacity of workflow that can be managed in a timely manner.
In order to provide sufficient time to coordinate household goods shipments, members must provide a three-week advance notice and alternate pack/pick-up dates for all shipments. Situations where a three-week lead time is impossible, i.e. RNLTD within 30 days or mission related issues, will be worked on a case-by-case basis.
