Lt. Col. (Dr.) Ryan Mihata, 81st Surgical Operations Squadron commander, took command during an assumption of command ceremony here, July 2.

Col. Beatrice Dolihite, 81st Medical Group commander, presided over the ceremony.

“I’m very excited to see you take command of this incredible surgical operations squadron,” said Dolihite. “I am certain that you understand that what we do here absolutely matters down range on the battle field. I know that you have the drive and the passion to train like we fight and lead this great team. You are definitely the right leader at the right time for this squadron.”

Mihata came to Keesler Air Force Base from the 42nd Medical Operations Squadron, at Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama.

“I’m honored and privileged to be here but it’s because of our team that we will be great in the future, so I encourage us all to step it up a notch and get out there and get the job done.” said Mihata.
