Keesler Air Force Base personnel have a few housing options when they arrive here.

One of those options is base housing, which is operated by Hunt Military Communities, a privatized housing team hired by the government to provide residents with living quarters.

The team, located in the Housing Community Center in the Bayridge Housing Area, aids in the management of the installation’s public/private housing venture.

Hunt Communities manages 1,180 homes located on base and at three off-base locations near Keesler.

The Keesler Housing Management Office team, led by Brett Long, KAFB capital asset manager, is responsible for monitoring how Hunt complies with the timelines established for completing routine, emergency and urgent repairs, among other tasks.

“I'm a liaison,” Long said. “I work between the resident and the project owner. I work to support our residents living in privatized housing. I listen to what residents say and look into their issue or complaint."

Any base member can contact the team via phone at 844-224-5162 or for maintenance requests, residents can call 855-452-3499. You can also email Hunt at KeeslerContact@huntcompanies.com. Finally, if you have a maintenance request, you can submit it via the Hunt website at www.keeslerfamilyhousing.com/maintenance-request.

“Basically, I'm here to work out any situation,” Long said. “We can help get maintenance back on track. We are here to take care of the people. It feels pretty good when, at the end of the day, you resolve a situation so it is amicable on both sides."

The housing team also works with residents on issues related to permanent change of station requests such as retention of housing when members want to stay in base housing until the end of their children’s school year.

The desire of Long’s team to create a positive environment for those living on base is shared by Col. Marcia Quigley, 81st Mission Support Group commander.

“There is nothing more important than our Airman, Sailors, Soldiers, Marines and their families,” Quigley said. “I want to ensure their experience living in base housing is the best it can be. If you are having issues that haven’t been resolved, contact Mr. Long or someone in your chain of command. Your first sergeant and members of leadership can help you get an issue resolved.”
