KEESLER AIR FORCE BASE, Miss. -- Sgt. Jaime “Gonzo” Gonzalez was killed in action on August 3rd, 2008, while conducting Protective Services Detail in Kabul, Afghanistan. Gonzalez was a member of the 436th Chemical Company, Texas Army National Guard, Laredo, Texas, when he was killed by a 20 lb. improvised explosive device, which detonated under his armored vehicle. Gonzalez was serving a year-long deployment in Afghanistan, where he was performing Protective Service Detail for the Commanding General of Combined Security Transition Command - Afghanistan.
Gonzalez is survived by his daughter, Samantha, who currently lives in El Paso, Texas.
