The 334th Training Squadron Gators showed the same fierce competitiveness in the sports arena as they did in the drill down arena by claiming the 81st Training Wing Commander's Trophy Nov. 11 at Keesler's Fall Festival.

The Gators, who won four of the five 81st Training Group drill competitions this
season, tallied 180 points to win the trophy.

"The Commander's Trophy is presented to the squadron that accumulates the most
points throughout the sports year," said sports director Sam Miller. "Points are based on participation in intramural sports, special events and sports and fitness council
meeting attendance. Additional points can be earned by top finishers in each sport or
special event."

The Gators participated in all intramural sports offered throughout the year, with third
place in intramural basketball, second place in their league and overall in intramural golf, second place in their league and first place overall in intramural soccer and first place overall in intramural flag football.

Of the 26 other units that competed in Keesler sports events during 2010, six other
units scored more than 100 points -- 334th TRS, 146 ; 332nd TRS, 134; 81st Logistics
Readiness Squadron, 132; 335th TRS, 130; 81st Medical Support Squadron, 110, and
81st Training Support Squadron, 106 points.

The 81st LRS won the trophy last year.
