Before the ink is dry on the April 23 issue of the printed Keesler News, plans for the final issue are well underway.

The April 30, Vol. 76, No. 17 issue will travel down memory lane and pay homage to the many essential services Keesler News provided to its readers and the base throughout the 61 years in publication.

The award-winning newspaper covered news-breaking events that included everything from mission accomplishments, kissing babies, hurricanes and acts of terror. Everyone has a memory of that one iconic front page.

The April 30 issue is destined to be a collector's item.

But closing this remarkable chapter in Keesler's history opens up new beginnings. The base website, www.keesler.af.mil, is already undergoing a major transformation to adapt to the growing demands of readers.

There will be special pages dedicated to local base news and Air Force announcements, all accessible from a mobile smart phone. A new online base guide is underway to showcase all of the content that celebrates the achievements of Keesler's Airmen and their families through words and images.

Public Affairs continues to look for story ideas and inputs. Please send suggestions to 81trw.pa@us.af.mil or phone 228-377-2783.
