Keesler Medical Center celebrates wall breaking Published April 15, 2015 By Lt. Col. Robert Edwards 81st Medical Group KEESLER AIR FORCE BASE, Miss. -- A wall breaking ceremony is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. April 21 to celebrate the start of significant renovations for the Keesler Medical Center. The ceremony will take place at the Keesler Medical Center's old emergency room entrance, next to the radiation oncology department. The ceremony will include a short address from Brig. Gen. Patrick Higby, 81st Training Wing commander, followed by a ceremonial wall breaking which will signify the start of the $78 million construction project. The renovated Keesler Medical Center is striving for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Silver Certification. Construction will be complete in fall 2017. Temporary department relocations during construction will be clearly defined and communicated throughout the process. The dates of the relocations will be posted on the base website as well as throughout the hospital in public areas.
