A commercial sandwich shop is being added to provide additional benefits to hospital beneficiaries and Keesler personnel. In a partnership between the 81st Medical Group, Army and Air Force Exchange Services and the Armed Forces Retirement Home, the renovated area is set to become a cyber café, sandwich shop and art gallery to feature works from military retirees living at the AFRH. The new shop is being built to provide another convenience service to the more than 230,000 beneficiaries and Keesler personnel the hospital serves per year, said Col. Ron Merchant, 81st Medical Support Squadron commander. "The Hungry Dragon [hospital dining facility] provides a great service to our beneficiaries, but we also want to provide other services when and where we can," said Merchant. "The cyber café renovation will allow us to add another layer of convenience, while also showcasing the talents of our veterans and retirees in the local community."
