KEESLER AIR FORCE BASE -- Labor Day weekend is here. It’s an opportunity to celebrate America’s workforce by spending time with family and friends. During the long holiday weekend, it’s important to stay vigilant in our pursuit to remain safe.
While making plans for the weekend, remember to keep safety first. With fair weather still about, many of us will be participating in outdoor activities. Statistically, Labor Day weekend is usually accompanied by higher rates of mishaps and injuries nationwide. During this time, risk management is key.
Recognizing potential hazards associated with activities, whether it’s yard work, camping, sports, grilling, boating or driving, risk assessment is a must. Failing to use safety equipment like seatbelts, life jackets or motorcycle helmets can lead to disaster.
It's also important to ensure you're not driving while fatigued or impaired - if you decide to drink, have a plan.
This weekend, buckle up, gear up, be flexible with your plans and be on the lookout for ways to prevent mishaps.
