KEESLER AIR FORCE BASE, Miss. -- Col. Michele Edmondson, 81st Training Wing commander, hosted a town hall forum for approximately 60 Keesler members and their families Sept. 15, at the Bay Breeze Event Center, Keesler Air Force Base, Mississippi.
Edmondson held the forum to give Keesler families an opportunity to meet and discuss issues with base leadership. 81st Medical Group, 81st Mission Support Group, 81st Force Support Squadron, 81st Security Forces Squadron leadership and Keesler Emergency Management representatives were also in attendance to help answer questions on childcare, medical care, base security, disaster preparedness and family activities.
“I think it’s important to establish a dialog with the Keesler community,” Edmondson said. “I’m very interested in hearing what they need, and I want to know if I can do more as the installation commander to meet their needs.”
She hopes to start holding town halls quarterly.
“There are a lot of spouses here that care about what’s going on,” she added. “I got direct input from families about their concerns, and that’s great. This was an opportunity to have a conversation and people came with things to talk about. This was a great start for doing everything we can to care for our Airmen and their families – I hope everyone brings a friend next time!”
