Biloxi, Miss. -- The Air Force’s “Tops in Blue” entertainment ensemble performed a free concert for hundreds of Keesler Airmen, families and local community members during their 2015 World Tour Oct. 17, at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum, Biloxi, Mississippi.
The show, titled “Freedom’s Song,” highlighted current pop and country hits, as well as the sounds of American music through the last century and patriotic tunes.
“It’s really important that we have these strong community partnerships with the Mississippi Gulf Coast, and what you do day in and day out for us at Keesler is absolutely incredible,” said Col. Dennis Scarborough, 81st Training Wing vice commander during his opening remarks before the show. “This is a thank you for all you do and to see a little bit of what your U.S. Air Force does across the globe.”
While local residents enjoyed the show, one of the cast members took the Biloxi stop to visit her roots.
Staff Sgt. Kennesha Key, a Tops in Blue vocalist, is a Biloxi native.
“The crowd had an amazing energy; I had a fantastic time performing here and seeing my family,” said Key, who is currently stationed at Ramstein Air Base, Germany. “It was so great being able to perform for my dad, who is a retired security forces master sergeant – I was definitely feeling the love of my hometown!”
Since its first world tour in 1953, Tops in Blue has toured 70 countries around the world and all 50 states.
