Pinwheels for Prevention target child abuse
Volunteers place 961 pinwheels on the lawn in front of Keesler Medical Center April 1. Each pinwheel represents a case of child abuse, neglect and exploitation confirmed in 2007 by the Mississippi Department of Human Services in the state’s three coastal counties. There were 1,833 reported cases in 2007; about one half of the reported cases were ultimately substantiated. The display remains in place the first two weeks of April.
