Keesler Independence Day celebration set for July 1

The annual Pops in the Park Independence Day fireworks show, open to ID card holders, is scheduled for July 1 from 3 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the Marina Park here.

The event is a celebration where friends and family can relax, participate in outdoor activities and watch a firework display at the end of the night.

Guests can purchase an armband for $2 per person to ride and play all night long.

The first event is a Stars & Stripes Golf Scramble which will start at 9 a.m. and will end at approximately 1 p.m. The family friendly activities begin at 3 p.m. and will run until 9 p.m. when the fireworks begin.

This year’s event will include the annual kid’s fishing rodeo, mullet toss, kid’s zone inflatables and a watermelon eating contest.

In addition, several new activities will take place including carnival rides, a splash zone with water slides and games as well as pontoon boat rides, a zorb ball race and a gladiator joust arena.

The Victory Six and Victory Belles, from the National World War II Museum in New Orleans, will be the featured entertainers on the Marina Stage.

Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets. Food and drinks will be available for purchase.
