Lt. Col. Samuel Williams Jr., incoming 335th Training Squadron commander, gained command from Lt. Col. Steven Lipinski, outgoing 335th TRS commander, during a change of command ceremony here, June 4.

Col. Leo Lawson Jr., 81st Training Group commander, presided over the ceremony.

“This organization has a great reputation and I will ensure we continue to provide optimized training,” said Williams. “I look forward to leading and serving for this mission.”

Williams was the Force Support Leadership Development chief at Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama before moving to Mississippi to take command of the 335th TRS.

“We did a lot of great things in the 335th TRS, but the lasting impression on me is how we did it,” said Lipinski. “We did it together. We’ve come from a unit of ‘you can’t do that’ to ‘why not’. We proved we can have a place that has innovative academics and high military standards.”
