For our Fallen Warrior commemoration this week, we remember U.S. Air Force Tech. Sgt. Guy Joseph Brungard, 4th Air Commando Squadron flight engineer.

On Mar 30, 1967, Brungard and his crew were aboard a Douglas AC-47D Spooky providing close air support to forces in Da Nang, Vietnam. The aircraft was shot down by intense automatic weapons fire leading to Brungard and six of his fellow crewmen dying in a crash.

Brungard earned many honors during his 16 years of military service, including the Vietnam Gallantry Cross, the Purple Heart, and Silver Star. The Brungard Manor, located on Keesler is named in honor of his service and ultimate sacrifice for our country.

Editor's note: The Fallen Warrior series highlights Fallen Warriors who exemplify our core values and paid the ultimate sacrifice. Take a moment to honor this week’s hero.
