Keesler officially opened the Division Street Gate on June 18.

After planning for around 20 years, construction was completed in approximately two years with help from the city, Naval facilities command and local contractors.

“This new gate will allow for more efficient and secure base access,” said Capt. Ryan Standish, 81st Security Forces Squadron operations officer. “The gate will offer more lanes and an improved visitor control center to heighten our capabilities.”

The gate is open for 24-hour access and sees approximately 360 cars per day.

Keesler partnered with the City of Biloxi, and state and federal planners to align the primary base entrance’s abilities with the needs of the base and community.

At this time, the gate is open for personally owned vehicles only and the visitor’s center will still be available on White Avenue. Meadows Drive Gate is now closed.
