AB donors, as universal plasma donors, possess a unique gift and therefore play a vital role in saving lives. Many people are not aware that group AB plasma is a critical component used to treat patients during times of urgency. Did you know? · Fewer than four out of 100 people in the United States have group AB blood. · Trauma surgeons have noted increased survival rates when plasma is used at the earliest stages of treatment. · Because AB is the universal plasma group it can be given to anyone in an emergency. "We ask all eligible AB donors within the Keesler military community to please come forward! Our surgeons need this plasma as they fight to save the lives of our war fighters", said Lisa Lynn, blood recruiter for the Keesler Blood Donor Center.
