Tall walls
Construction workers pour concrete for the linear accelerator vault walls at Keesler Medical Center’s new diagnostic imaging center Sept. 30. James Martin, Air Force Civil Engineering Support Agency Katrina Recovery project manager, said the reinforced concrete walls are 2-3 feet thick and about 23 feet high. A convoy of cement trucks made dozens of trips throughout the day to pour about 698 cubic yards of concrete using two large pumping booms. Construc-tion is about 13 percent complete. July 1 is the scheduled occupancy date. (U.S. Air Force photo by Steve Pivnick)
