New unit activated
Col. Jeffrey Jackson, left, 81st Mission Support Group commander, passes the guidon to Maj. Clarence Lee, 81st Logis-tics Readiness Squadron commander, Oct. 1 during the squadron’s activation ceremony. The former 81st Supply and Transpor-tation Squadrons have merged to form the new squadron. Keesler is the last base in the Air Force to make the transition, be-cause of the A-76 study which turns over many base support services to a contractor, as well as the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina three years ago.
