Can leadership or management deny my request to switch work schedules?

Leadership/management may limit available schedule types based on adverse agency impact with appropriately supported justification. Leadership may also set working hours for each employee.

How do I request a new schedule?

Employees should complete the Work Schedule Request form. When filling out the form, ensure the type of schedule requested is indicated.

Can my leadership force me to change my schedule?

Employees may request to work any type of work schedule. However, leadership/management may limit available schedule types based on adverse agency impact with appropriately supported justification. Leadership may also set working hours for each employee.

When do the new schedules start?

Wing leadership expects the new schedules to be IOC by February 10, 2025. Full implementation will be contingent on timing of employee submissions, leadership approvals, and timekeeping system inputs.

Will we still log hours and leave in ATAAPS?

Yes. Employees will still utilize ATAAPS. Additionally, regardless of the employee’s schedule, they will still be expected to complete 80 hours biweekly. Core hours are set by leadership teams based on mission requirements.

What if I don’t want an AWS? Do I have to choose one of those options?

No. Employees may choose to work a basic schedule of five eight-hour days, 40 hours a week, 80 hours bi-weekly.

What are credit hours and aren’t they the same as compensatory time?

Credit hours are similar to compensatory time. However, they are held separately. They are requested by the employee and can be approved by the supervisor. They do not expire and a maximum of 24 credit hours can be carried over from pay period to pay period.

How do I request credit hours from my supervisor?

Credit hour requests can be submitted through ATAAPS. This process is similar to requesting compensatory time. The employee must ensure they select the credit hour option since credit hours and compensatory time are different. If an employee is currently on a CWS, the credit hour option will not populate under Premium request options.

Can an employee have regular tour of duty hours that start prior to 0600 and/or last past 1800?

This is not recommended. An employee is entitled to night pay for those hours that must be worked between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. to complete a daily tour of duty.
