Air Force leaders recently designated the 81st Training Wing as one of the best units in the Air Force, authorizing the Airmen assigned here between July 1, 2014 to June 30, 2015, to wear the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award ribbon.

“This award shows the dedication and hard work each of you put forth to make Keesler what it is today. Congratulations Dragons,” said Col. Michele Edmondson, 81st TRW commander.

The Secretary of the Air Force bestows this honor to numbered units with Airmen who distinguished themselves through exceptionally meritorious service or outstanding achievements that clearly set their organization above and apart from similar units.

The Air Force Personnel Center website says “The services include; performance of exceptionally meritorious service, accomplishment of a specific outstanding achievement of national or international significance, combat operations against an armed enemy of the United States, or military operations involving conflict with or exposure to hostile actions by an opposing foreign force.”
