Summer is almost here! While youth count down to the final school bell, parents anxiously make plans to keep their children busy all summer long. The 81st Force Support Squadron provides an abundance of youth activities and camps, and this year they're also offering something new.

A two-day summer camp registration event will take place 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 2 and 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. May 3 at the Bay Breeze Event Center. The event will give parents the opportunity to shop around, learn about the various camps, and register their children.

"It becomes time consuming for parents to go to multiple facilities, fill out all the forms and make separate payments for each activity their children want to participate in," said Dave Jenkins, Deputy Director of the 81st Force Support Squadron. "This year, our goal is to simplify that process."

The registration process will be easy. Parents will be given a "camp menu card" for each of their children. Displays will be set up on the available summer activities and camps. Families can talk to camp representatives, mark their selections, register and make one easy payment.

"It's essentially a one-stop-shop. We're here to support our military families and make things easier any way we can," said Jenkins. "We have great programs at Keesler, especially for youth, and this event will showcase that."
