KEESLER AIR FORCE BASE, Miss. -- A town hall meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. Sept. 14 at the Biloxi Visitors Center in Biloxi, Miss., to discuss small unmanned aircraft systems, also commonly referred to as drones, and their impact near Keesler Air Force Base and its relative airspace.
The increased use of SUAS has resulted in safety and security concerns throughout the Air Force. Members of Keesler AFB are joining with community members to raise awareness and educate the public on Federal Aviation Administration and Department of Defense regulations. They will also discuss how to work with base representatives to fly SUAS devices legally within the installation’s airspace.
A map showcasing the appropriate range for flying drones in addition to other material will be presented. Subject matter experts from our operational support flight and security forces squadron will answer questions about the policies related to SUAS use on and around base.
Media interested in covering the event should RSVP to the Public Affairs office no later than noon Sept. 13. Call (228) 377-1179 or email 81trw.pa@us.af.mil.
