KEESLER AIR FORCE BASE, Miss. -- A media event is scheduled for Aug. 29 at 10 a.m. to discuss small unmanned aircraft systems, also commonly referred to as drones, and their impact near Keesler Air Force Base and its relative airspace.
The increased use of SUAS has resulted in safety and security concerns throughout the Air Force. Together, we can educate business or recreational drone operators about Federal Aviation Administration and Department of Defense regulations as well as learn how to work with base representatives to fly SUAS devices legally within the installation’s airspace.
We will present a map showcasing the appropriate range for flying drones in addition to other material. Subject matter experts from our operational support flight and security forces squadron will answer questions about the policies related to SUAS use on and around base.
Media interested in covering the event should RSVP to the Public Affairs office no later than Aug. 28 at 3 p.m. Call Angelique Smythe, public affairs media relations, at (228) 377-1179 or email 81trw.pa@us.af.mil.
