KEESLER PREPS FOR HURRICANE SALLY RECOVERY

Keesler Air Force Base will be opening for standard business starting September 17, 2020 after sustaining only minimal damage from Hurricane Sally.

            Base facilities will reopen at the following dates:

  1. The Azalea and Magnolia dining facilities will resume normal operations for dinner, September 16
  2. All gates are now operating normally with the exception of the Visitor’s Center which will remain closed until Thursday. Visitors will not be allowed on the installation until it reopens.
  3. Keesler Medical Center will resume normal operations September 17
  4. The Exchange, Commissary, Shoppette and all other AAFES facilities will resume normal operations September 17
  5. Airman & Family Readiness Center, Base Honor Guard, education services, fitness centers, bowling center, McBride Commons, Military Personnel Flight, Vandenberg Commons, FamCamp, Child Development Center and the Youth Center will resume normal operations September 17
  6. The Marina, Golf Course and Outdoor Rec will resume normal operations September 18

 

The 81st Training Wing, along with help from the 403rd Wing, was able to take safety precautions before the hurricane made landfall. These safety precautions not only helped minimize the damage on base but also ensured the safety of Keesler Airmen and their families.  Only mission essential personnel are working today, September 16, in an effort to ensure the safety of the base by performing recovery actions.
