Keesler hosts 2011 Special Olympics

KEESLER AIR FORCE BASE, Miss. -- IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

What: Keesler AFB will host the 43rd anniversary of the Mississippi Special Olympics Summer Games, May 13-15.

Where: Various locations depending on the event. Click for event schedule.

Note: The opening ceremonies will be held Friday, May 13th at 8 p.m. on base in the Levitow Training Support Facility.

Background: Keesler has hosted the event for more than two decades. Last year more than 1,200 athletes, coaches and caregivers from across the state passed through Keesler's gate. Also more than 3,000 volunteers from the base and the local area donated their time to help make the event a success.
