KEESLER CELEBRATES GRAND OPENING OF NEW MULTI-MILLION DOLLAR EVENT CENTER

KEESLER, MS -- In conjunction with the Air Force's 63rd birthday, Keesler will hold the grand opening of the base's newest state-of-the-art facility, the $26.5 million Bay Breeze Event Center. The official opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for 9:30 a.m., Sept. 17, 2010 with a full line-up of events to follow during the day.

Background:
In 2005, the wrath of Hurricane Katrina devastated the Bay Breeze Golf Course, completely destroying the Consolidated (Officers/Enlisted) Club and inflicting significant damage to the Community Center. In the process of restoring and rebuilding these activities, and after numerous brainstorming and planning sessions, an idea to consolidate these three major activities into an Event Center was born.

The Bay Breeze Event Center is located on the golf course across from the Bay Ridge housing area. It will provide a myriad of services to Keesler personnel and to our local neighbors and communities.
