After 61 years of history, stories, photographs and memories, an era is coming to an end.
Keesler News, the flagship base newspaper spanning more than half a century, will stop print production after April 30.

Although the printed version of Keesler News is ending, online stories and photographs will continue, providing rich content and more frequent updates.

"Transitioning from print to an exclusive online version of news allows us to focus our resources more on in-depth coverage of Keesler's people and mission," said Jerry Taranto, 81st Training Wing Public Affairs operations chief.

"With the rapid pace of a changing news environment,  technological advances, fewer resources and customer feedback, the decision to transition from print to online was inevitable," said Airman 1st Class Duncan McElroy, editor.

Keesler's public website is currently undergoing a design facelift, including new sections for news and notes.

"There will be something for everyone that will be accessible around the clock," said McElroy.
For the final issue of Keesler News on April 30, Public affairs will commemorate the legacy of the base newspaper, which informed, celebrated and entertained thousands of readers every week for six decades.

Submission deadlines for the last two printed editions of Keesler News are April 17 and April 24 by close of business.
