Chief Master Sergeant Michael J. Venning

Chief Master Sergeant Michael J. Venning is the Command Chief Master Sergeant of the 81st Training Wing, Keesler Air Force Base, Mississippi. The wing is responsible for providing technical training for officers, enlisted, and civilians of the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Space Force, Air National Guard, and Air Force Reserves, as well as other Department of Defense agencies and international students in a variety of specialties. He advises commanders and staff on mission effectiveness, professional development, military readiness, training, utilization, health, morale, and welfare of the wing’s 12,000 military and civilian Airmen and serves as the functional manager for Chief Master Sergeants and First Sergeants. Additionally, Chief Venning works closely with the local community and civic leaders to enhance support for military programs and installation family members.

Chief Venning entered the Air Force in May of 2000 and received his U.S. citizenship in 2005. He served six years in a combat communications unit as a power production specialist with many temporary duties and deployments around the country and in the Middle East. In 2006, Chief Venning retrained into the contracting career field and spent 11 years in various non-commissioned officer, squadron Senior Enlisted Leader, and major command staff positions, in addition to being warranted as a contracting officer. He has also served as commandant of an NCO Academy and Airman Leadership School. Before assuming his current position, Chief Venning was the Command Chief for the 100th Air Refueling Wing, Royal Air Force Mildenhall, United Kingdom.

Chief Venning has deployed four times in support of Operations ENDURING FREEDOM, IRAQI FREEDOM, and NEW DAWN.
