Marines celebrate 241 years
Capt. Gary Baxter, Keesler Marine Detachment commanding officer, cuts the birthday cake using a non-commissioned officer sword during the 241st Marine Corps Birthday Ball at the Golden Nugget Casino Nov. 11, 2016, in Biloxi, Miss. Traditionally, the first piece of cut cake is passed to the oldest, then youngest, Marines in attendance, as a demonstration of passing the honor and experience of the Marine Corps from one generation to the next. The event, hosted by the Keesler MARDET, also featured a guest speaker. (U.S. Air Force photo by Kemberly Groue/Released)
