KEESLER AIR FORCE BASE, Miss -- The 352nd Battlefield Airman Training Squadron’s Detachment 1 activated during a ceremony here in the Bay Breeze Event Center Ballroom Aug. 2.
Det. 1, 352nd BA TS, provides the Defense Department, Air Force Special Operations Command and the 24th Special Operations Wing with mission ready combat controllers and special operations weathermen.
Capt. Jesse Sullivan, Det. 1, 352nd BA TS commander, assumed command of the detachment from Maj. Trent Joy, 352d BA TS commander, Pope Air Force Base, N.C., and said he is looking forward to his new position.
“It’s an honor to be able to enable these instructors to continue laying a solid foundation for the students and future operators,” said Sullivan.
Joy said he was in awe with the large amount of distinguished visitors attending the activation and had some words of encouragement for the new detachment commander.
“The relationships we have here at Keesler and the leadership support is indicative of what our experience has been here,” Joy said. “Although we are a tenant unit, we have never felt like it. I pledge to you [Sullivan] that Chief Remington and I will work hard to provide you any resources and support you need to enable your mission here. The success and the reputation of this unit is now on you.”
