KEESLER AIR FORCE BASE, Miss. -- The Keesler Air Force Community Partnership program reached another milestone March 7 with the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement between Keesler and surrounding Mississippi Gulf Coast community members during its Leadership Committee meeting at Keesler Air Force Base, Mississippi.
“Since its creation on May 3, 2016, the AFCP has resulted in over 40 mutual support and letters of agreement, showcasing the dedication between the base and local communities to help each other in any way possible,” said Dr. Clark, Keesler’s AFCP program manager.
During its latest meeting, Clark took the group through a series of nine previously agreed upon initiatives. Each initiative was reviewed and the leadership committee provided valuable feedback.
“Keesler is successfully moving its program forward,” said Clark. “The effort between Keesler and the Mississippi Gulf Coast community was featured as a success story during the 2018 Air Force Community Profiles in Partnership Conference in San Diego, California.”
The MOA signing is designed to capture the partnership between the base and community to help them work together to find ways to develop mutual support. According to Clark, the MOA helps further solidify our close relationship with the Mississippi Gulf Coast community.
Keesler’s leadership committee members signing the agreement were: Col. Debra Lovette, 81st Training Wing commander; Mr. Frank Genzer, honorary commander emeritus; Col. Mike Smith, 81st TRW vice commander; retired Maj. Gen. Jeffrey Hammond, University of Southern Mississippi military liaison; Mr. Cliff Kirkland, Biloxi Director of Department Initiatives; Col. Danny Davis, 81st Mission Support Group commander; honorary commanders Mr. Cree Cantrell and Mr. Bill Lavers; Col. Jeannine Ryder, 81st Medical Group commander, Mr. TJ Moran, field representative of Governor Palazzo; Col. Robert Stanton, 403rd Wing acting commander; Ms. Kay Daneault, Mental Health Association of Southern Mississippi executive director; and Dr. Wayne Clark, Installation Support deputy director.
The next Keesler and Mississippi Gulf Coast Air Force Community Partnership meeting will take place June 7, 2018, from 8 to 11 a.m., at the Bay Breeze Event Center. This meeting will involve all community partners, provide an update on our efforts, and celebrate the one-year anniversary in the program.
