The gospel worship service at Larcher Chapel held a Memorial Day service May 26 with Col. Malcolm T. Johnson, 2nd Air Force vice commander, as the special guest.

The special service was held for members of the congregation to honor lost loved ones with the support of their community.

"I love the fellowship," said retired Chief Master Sgt. Denise Rucker, the president for Protestant ministry. "The gospel service here is like my family."

Candles were lit one by one for each individual being honored and the family members were given white roses. Keesler's honor guard gave their assistance to the service and at the end Johnson gave a reflection speech.

"The last Monday of every May honors all who have passed in the military," said Johnson. "Men and women of all ages and races died so we can be where we are now."
