He will compete for AFSA International First Term Airman of the Year in August at the AFSA International Conference. "This is a huge achievement," said Staff Sgt. Charmaine Flint, Keesler AFSA chapter communications trustee. "Bartlett is a sharp, motivated, and enthusiastic Airman and he really is a great role model for other first term Airmen." The AFSA is a federally chartered nonprofit organization representing the professional and personal interests of active duty, retired and their families. "It means a lot to represent the division at the international level in August," said Bartlett. "The great direction from my supervisors and leaders put me on the right track and I know I would not be in this position without them fostering me into the Airman I am today." Bartlett was presented the award by retired Chief Master Sgt. of the Air Force Robert Gaylor, board president, said Master Sgt. Trey Horn, Mathies Noncommissioned Officer Academy. Bartlett plans on spending his career in the Air Force and hopes to be a chief master sergeant. Bartlett's advice to Airmen is, "Work hard, be involved, give back and inspire those around you."
