Keesler's family advocacy program offers several classes through June.

Anger management classes are offered from 1-2:30 p.m. Tuesdays in the Arnold Annex classroom. Paula Spooner noted, "No one enjoys being captive to out-of-control emotion. Unrestrained anger can hurt others as well as us. Join us to learn some tools for identifying triggers and cooling your own 'hot thoughts,' recognizing distorted beliefs and triggers, relaxing the body and regaining self-control. Anticipate at least four weeks to complete workbook content. Registration is required.

Another class, "Intimacy and Appeal: What's the Connection?" is scheduled for 1-2:30 p.m., May 15 or 2:30-4 pm., June 14 in the Arnold Annex classroom. Spooner explained, "It's not easy staying a couple today with the demands of life pulling from every possible direction, leaving very little time to nurture each other. Then, popular media constantly urge us to compare our relationship with others. Needless to say, we often wonder if we are missing out, if everyone else is having more satisfying or frequent 'fun,' whether our marriages have gotten unsalvageable. Join us in a discussion about why the hottest marriages aren't based on attractiveness but are instead relational, based on a healthy balance of cohesion and commitment. Learn about the 12 paths to relationship intimacy and together with your partner explore various couple styles that may work for you!" Registration is required.

Finally, "1, 2, 3 Magic!" is a humorous look at parenting and a serious look at discipline. Spooner said, "Learn how to discipline without arguing, yelling or spanking and how to control obnoxious behavior; how to handle the six kinds of testing and manipulation; the five tactics for encouraging good behavior; what to do about bedtime, messy rooms, lying, chores, homework and more; and how to strengthen your relationship with your child."

"1, 2, 3 Magic!" will be held 3-4:30 p.m. May 8,15,22 and 29 in the Arnold Annex classroom. Participants are asked to attend all four sessions.

FAP prevention classes are open to all Keesler personnel and their family members. For more information call 228-376-3459 or 5457.
